Marcus Aaron Walker, was born and raised in the Bronx, NY and attended New York public schools throughout his entire education. He attended State University of New York College at Oswego and graduated with a B.A. in 1993. Walker then attended Emerson College in Boston and earned a M.A. in Visual and Media Arts. In late 1994, Walker began working at the Boston-based documentary film production company, Blackside Inc., best known as the award-winning producers of the landmark civil rights series Eyes On the Prize. Walker held various positions at Blackside in both film production and Blackside's education and new media efforts during a nearly eight year period. In February of 2003, Walker decided to become a Boston public school teacher. He was accepted into UMass Boston’s teaching program at Dorchester Education Complex and graduated with a M.Ed. in June 2004. Walker began teaching U.S. History I and African American Music Studies at Excel High in the fall of 2004.
Walker - once upon a time - played the electric bass, and he remains a music fanatic.
