Hello! I am John Matthews and have been at Excel High School for 5 years. I currently teach United States History and World History. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Education. I am currently in the process of obtaining my Master’s degree in Administration. I am the Varsity Girls basketball coach at South Boston High as well. I also served in the U.S. Army and participated in peacekeeping operations in Kuwait and Bosnia-Herzegovina. I feel the keys to a successful student are discipline, dedication and attendance. I currently reside in South Boston with my wife Amy and children Jack, Jane and Gregory.
